30Apr2020

From 11:00 am

At Online via Zoom

NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ABUJA BRANCH (UNITY BAR) HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE

Good day Learned Senior Advocates, Elders and Colleagues.

The Human Rights Committee of the NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) has put together this virtual series  for stakeholders to deliberate on the observance of human rights in this era of regulations and lockdown vis-a-vis very disturbing reports of gross violations of human rights in the course of enforcement of COVID -19 regulations and lockdown. It therefore behoves lawyers to investigate these reports; proffer solutions to curb the abuses going forward, and in particular, interrogate the application of the Quarantine Act,  vis-a-vis the 1999 Constitution.

The facilitators are foremost legal practitioners with extensive practical experience on human rights to wit:

  • Femi Falana, SAN
  • Anthony Ojukwu; Executive Secretary National Human Rights Commission
  • Rhoda Prevail Tyoden; Country Vice President/National President, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria
  • Her Worship, Mabel Segun-Bello; Chief Magistrate High Court of the Federal Capital Territory

The webinar will also be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook & LinkedIn

Best Regards.
